LINDENHURST - With the temperatures set to drop overnight, freezing the sleet and snow, drivers are being urged to watch out for black ice on the roads.

Although the main roadways were mostly cleared for the morning commute, some drivers still had trouble navigating the mounds of snow and puddles of water.

An SUV ended up in a snow bank facing the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway, while near exit 49 on the LIE, a truck skidded off the service ramp.

Since the sun was out throughout the day, some of the snow started melting, creating dangerous icing conditions for the evening commute.

Drivers are urged to slow down and allow for extra travel time.
