WESTBURY - The man allegedly behind a frightening and violent home invasion in Nassau County pleaded not guilty today in court.

Police say Matthew Levine, of Westbury, woke up homeowners on Forest Lane early this morning.

According to police, when the woman saw Levine in her kitchen, she ran to a neighbor's home to call cops.

Cops say Levine then went upstairs and hit an 8-year-old girl with a mop while she slept.

Levine is also accused of taking a cellphone.

He has been charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
