MASSAPEQUA - Today at Unqua Elementary School, fifth- and sixth-grade students received a music lesson from master cellist Dr. James McWhorter.

"This is one of the few activities that kids do unplugged. There is no technology involved with it," says McWhorter, who believes music is important for children today.

In learning how to play together better, the children are also learning about the importance of teamwork.

Dr. McWhorter has performed with the White House Orchestra before presidents Nixon, Ford and Carter. To watch extended footage of Dr. McWhorter with the students, go to channel 612 on your iO digital cable box and select the 'iO Extra' tab.
