Massive whale beached in Queens

QUEENS - Crews from as far as Riverhead rushed to try and save an endangered finback whale that washed ashore in Queens this morning.

The massive mammal was found on a beach in Breezy Point at around 10:30 a.m. Chopper 12 was overhead as firefighters and other emergency workers hosed the whale down with water.

It's still unclear what caused the gigantic creature to come ashore. The whale has been described as emaciated and experts say the prognosis isn't good.
