MASSAPEQUA - A Massapequa father is facing charges after allegedly leaving his toddler alone at Carman's Plaza Shopping Center.

Police say 37-year-old Wayne Voigt left his 2-year-old daughter unattended for more than an hour Saturday morning.

Officials report that an off-duty New York City police officer found the child, stayed with her, and called 911.

Neighbors say Voigt walked back to his Massapequa home on Bernard Street, not realizing his daughter was missing.

Police reported that when Voigt went back to the shopping center, officers noticed he was in a delusional state and didn't remember where he left his daughter. Police also added that they thought the man was high on prescription pills.

Voigt was arrested and taken to a hospital.
