As firefighters fight a massive brush fire in the Ridge/Manorville area, Riverhead Town police are requesting Manorville residents living in the area of Wading River

RIVERHEAD - As firefighters fight a massive brush fire in the Ridge/Manorville area, Riverhead Town police are requesting Manorville residents living in the area of Wading River Manorville Road and Shultz Road (East) to Edwards Avenue and from the Peconic River (North) to Grumman Boulevard evacuate their residence.

The Town of Riverhead has opened a shelter for these residents at the Riverhead Senior Center, located at 60 Shade Tree Lane in Aquebogue, New York.As of 12 a.m. Tuesday, Suffolk emergency management officials say it is still unsafe and evacuated residents should not return to their homes.The Red Cross says its volunteers are also providing food and drinks to hundreds of firefighters and emergency workers at the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Academy in Yaphank.Watch News 12 LIVE
