Mangano: Road crews out in force

WOODBURY - Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano says road crews throughout the county are working hard, trying to keep snow off of the roadways for travelers.

Even before the heavy snow started falling, plows were laying the streets with sand and salt.

Mangano says the county will deal with whatever the storm brings. Measures include the use of new police trucks to better service taxpayers who need assistance at home or on the slick roads.

While counties and towns work to clear roadways, residents are being urged to stay home.

Nassau County has set up a non-emergency number to report problems such as downed trees and roads that haven't been plowed. The number is 1-888-684-4274.
