Mangano: Road conditions to get worse, accidents likely

WOODBURY - While the first snowstorm of the season may be effectively over, County Executive Ed Mangano (R-Nassau) says work crews are out in full force to clear icy roads.

In a phone interview with News 12 Long Island, Mangano said while road conditions are passable, he urges drivers to exercise extreme caution and avoid getting behind the wheel unless necessary.

With the temperatures dropping, the county executive said road conditions will worsen and may result in more fender-benders and spin-offs. He says work crews are on stand-by to treat icy roads.

According to Mangano, there have been over 200 accidents in Nassau County since the first snowflakes hit the ground.
