Man struck, killed by LIRR train in Carle Place

CARLE PLACE - ? MTA police say at 9:35 a.m. this morning an LIRR equipment train carrying no passengers struck a 54-year-old unidentified male at the west end of the Carle Place station. Officials say the man was killed upon impact.As a result, service on the main line was suspended for a time and then resumed on a single track. The suspension contributed to delays of up to 90 minutes on the Huntington-Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches through late morning. The MTA police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, but no further information is available at this time.
