EAST ISLIP - Police are investigating a shooting outside an East Islip bar that has left one man wounded overnight.

Authorities say 24-year-old Jovan Bailey was shot multiple times at Norton's bar on Connetquot Avenue at around 3 a.m.

According to police, the victim's friend, Nyasha Hunter, didn't wait for 911, instead taking off with Bailey in the car in the direction of the hospital. However, Hunter, who was allegedly drunk at the time, crashed her car on Saxon Avenue in Islip.

Bailey was eventually taken to Southside Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition. Hunter and two others were also hospitalized with minor injuries.

A neighbor says she heard a total of six shots. A News 12 Long Island reporter who arrived on the scene found a parking lot riddled with shell casings. Detectives later returned to the area and collected the evidence.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
