Man shot in the stomach during Central Islip home invasion on Birch Street

CENTRAL ISLIP - Police are searching for the suspects accused of shooting a man during an early morning home invasion in Central Islip.

Police confirm that three masked gunman broke into a home on Birch Street just before 1 a.m.

News 12 Long Island has learned the men got in through a rear window and shot a 48-year-old man in his stomach. The man is in serious condition.

Officials say four other family members were inside the house at the time the unidentified man was shot. They included a woman and her two children, a 22-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son.

Police say the daughter was also hurt when she was hit in the face with one of the suspects’ guns. 

After the invasion, police say they searched the area with their K-9 unit. Police say nothing was taken from the home during the break-in so they are continuing to investigate a motive today.
