Man killed in Islip mobile home fire

A man was killed in a fast-moving fire that tore through a mobile home Thursday in Islip. The flames broke out at around 3 p.m.

ISLIP - A man was killed in a fast-moving fire that tore through a mobile home Thursday in Islip.

The flames broke out at around 3 p.m. in one of the trailers at the Edgewater Trailer Park on Main Street.

A man was trapped inside and died despite the efforts of neighbors and firefighters to save him. His identity has not yet been released.

The fire destroyed the mobile home in which it started and damaged two others.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
