Man held in Brooklyn boy's slaying says he hears voices

BROOKLYN - The Brooklyn man accused of kidnapping and dismembering an 8-year-old boy has been ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation after saying that he hears voices. Levi Aron, 35, pleaded not guilty to murder charges today. Police say he took Leiby Kletzky to his apartment Monday night after the lost boy asked him for directions.According to prosecutors, Aron admitted to smothering and dismembering the boy in a panic Tuesday after seeing the massive search effort for Kletzky in his Borough Park neighborhood.NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly says the gruesome crime defies all logic."There's nothing more innocent than an 8-year-old child, and to be killed in this manner is heartbreaking," he said.Meanwhile, thousands of mourners lined the streets of Borough Park last night for Kletzky's funeral. He would have turned nine years old next week.Associated Press reports contributed to this article.
