FARMINGDALE - The man accused of starting a police chase that seriously injured a Nassau officer is now facing charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and first-degree assault.Police say Louie Blanton was driving away from an officer when he caused a crash on the Southern State Parkway in Farmingdale last November.The officer, a 20-year veteran of the department, was flown to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and is still recovering today.Blanton's lawyer says police arrested the wrong person and that the defendant is looking forward to clearing his name at trial.Nassau police: Tips lead to arrest in high-speed chase
