Man dead in Sound Beach crash

A Sound Beach man was killed in a single-car crash Saturday morning.

Suffolk police say 49-year-old Richard Cambria was driving

Suffolk police say 49-year-old Richard Cambria was driving on Islip Drive in Sound Beach when his pickup truck veered off the roadway and struck a telephone pole and retaining wall. He was pronounced dead.

SOUND BEACH - A Sound Beach man was killed in a single-car crash Saturday morning.

Suffolk police say 49-year-old Richard Cambria was driving on Islip Drive in Sound Beach when his pickup truck veered off the roadway and struck a telephone pole and retaining wall.

Cambria was taken to Mather Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Online reports say that Cambria was a beloved security guard at Shoreham-Wading River High School.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Seventh Squad detectives at 631-852-8752.
