Man critically injured after car overturns on LIE

A man was critically injured when his car overturned on the LIE in Commack this morning.


Police confirm there was one car involved and the driver lost control of the vehicle and overturned around 4:45 a.m.

COMMACK - A man was critically injured when his car overturned on the LIE in Commack this morning.

The eastbound LIE was closed between exits 52 and 53 at Commack Road after a vehicle overturned. Police confirm there was only one car involved. They say the driver lost control of the vehicle and overturned around 4:45 a.m. The road was closed for hours during the morning rush.

Police say Leon Parks, 23, of Coram, was taken by Medivac to Stony Brook University Medical Center.

Witnesses told police that Parks was driving at a high rate of speed. Police are investigating the accident.
