KINGS PARK - Police have arrested a man who they say sexually assaulted a female jogger in Kings Park Tuesday, raising concerns amid local residents.

According to authorities, the victim was running along Marvin Drive at around 6 a.m. when 23-year-old Luis Sanchez approached her and forced her into a nearby wooded area where he raped her.

Sanchez has been charged with first-degree rape and two counts of criminal sexual act.

Meanwhile, police confirmed today that just 15 minutes before the rape, another woman on the same residential block was threatened with a knife.

Local residents say they are outraged that authorities had kept them in the dark for 48 hours about the two attacks.

"I'd like to know if something happened over here," says neighbor Trisha Baricevac.

Suffolk police say they didn't inform the media until this morning because of an "ongoing investigation" in which detectives were looking into other leads.
