According to police, the unidentified man tried to bolt from a Children and Family Services van yesterday on Motor Parkway and Wheeler Road.

HAUPPAUGE - Police say a young man who allegedly tried to escape in handcuffs and shackles in Hauppauge is back in custody.

According to police, the unidentified man tried to bolt from a Children and Family Services van yesterday on Motor Parkway and Wheeler Road in Hauppauge.

Officers found him within the hour and returned him to the state run department.

There is no word on why he was originally in custody.
