BAY SHORE - Police say a Bay Shore man has been arrested for allegedly trying to exchange prescription painkillers for sex with a 12-year-old girl. Nassau police say that when they arrested Walter Hurst, 57, he had Oxycodone on him, plus condoms, gummy bears, lollipops and chocolate milk for the child. Investigators say they listened in on a conversation Hurst had with a third party, whom they have declined to identify. They say Hurst got into graphic detail about how he wanted to have sex with a child. Police say they set up a sting at a Hicksville hotel last night, where Hurst believed he was going to deliver drugs and have sex with the girl. Instead, he was arrested for drug charges and criminal solicitation.Neighbors on Hurst's Bay Shore block were stunned to hear of his arrest. They say he's lived there for more than 30 years and has a wife and two grown children.Anyone with more information on this case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
