RIVERHEAD - A Brooklyn man is accused of running a fake online flower delivery service to distribute marijuana in Suffolk County. The website called, Suffolk Sensi Flower Shop, advertises as a premier Long Island delivery service and claims to discreetly deliver "top quality organically green flowers."Prosecutors say they began tracking the site last October after receiving a tip. Undercover officers made several purchases from the site from spots around Suffolk County, and it eventually led them to the site's owner, Michael Bennett. A grand jury indicted Bennett on seven counts of criminal sale of marijuana, dating from October of last year to his arrest in July.Prosecutors say Bennett made about $1,000 per week selling to customers around Suffolk. They say the website allowed customers to specify the type of marijuana, quantity, delivery time and location, and it even allowed buyers to pay by credit card. Officials say Bennett ran the website himself and made the deliveries personally. Police say Bennett confessed to operating and designing the site, taking orders and delivering the drugs when he was arrested. Bennett's attorney says her client is a veteran who toured in Afghanistan and was honorably discharged from the Marines because of injuries. Bennett was not able to afford his $100,000 cash bail so he will remain in jail until his court appearance next month.
