Man accused of driving drunk, slamming into Inwood gas station

INWOOD - A Nassau County man is accused of driving drunk without a license when he slammed into a gas station.

The incident took place at a Mobil station on Burnside Avenue in Inwood.

Police say Jorge Alvarenga was drunk, lost control and went into the gas pump barrier. Alvarenga then ended up inside the gas station convenience store.According to police, the attendant was pinned between the car and the counter but is going to be OK.

Two other people inside the store weren't hurt.

Alvarenga is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated, assault and reckless endangerment.
