PATCHOGUE - Main Street in the Village of Patchogue is getting a whole new look, and work on the project has already begun. The village is undergoing a $100 million redevelopment project. Demolition crews started knocking down the old Swezey's department store building on Main Street today. When the New Village redevelopment project is finished, it will have retail space and hundreds of apartments, some of them county-subsidized workforce housing units. Local residents and business owners say they hope the project breathes new life into Patchogue's downtown area.
