Long wins GOP Senate primary, faces Gillibrand in the fall

WOODBURY - Wendy Long is projected to win the Republican primary for Senate with more than 50 percent of the vote, she will face Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in the general election.

In Suffolk's 1st Congressional District, Randy Altschuler won the Republican primary and will face Rep. Tim Bishop this fall.

In the 4th Congressional District, Nassau Legislator Fran Becker won the Republican primary and will face Rep. Carolyn McCarthy in the general election.

In the 5th Congressional District, which covers parts of Queens and Nassau, Gregory Meeks appears poised to win the Democratic nomination for the seat.

The general election will be held on Nov. 6.
