HICKSVILLE - Many Long Islanders chose to spend the day indoors today amid a winter blast, but some brave souls weren't deterred by the plummeting temperatures from venturing outside.
Some people could be seen taking a stroll amid patches of ice at Jones Beach, fortified with hot coffee and dressed in layers.
Others, like Larry Sangiovanni, of Hicksville Car Wash, had no choice but to work outdoors in the bitter-cold conditions. Sangiovanni says it could've been a lot worse.
"The worst is after a snowstorm, and it's windy and the wind blows right through the car wash," he says.
Jose Reyes, who also works at the car wash, says on the upside, the colder it is, the better the tips are.
