YAPHANK - Long Island honored its D-Day veterans Friday on the 70th anniversary of the invasion.
A special ceremony was held in Yaphank to honor the courage and sacrifice of the soldiers, many of whom were only between 19 and 22 years old.
"These gentlemen were called upon at that age to save the world and they did it," Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone said at the ceremony.
