WOODBURY - While a powerful nor'easter draped the Northeast with snow, the storm was essentially a no-show on Long Island.

The storm led Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) to declare a state of emergency for 13 counties. Cuomo's office says a state of emergency allows them to use state resources to assist local governments. It also allows the governor to suspend regulations when necessary.

Police on Long Island do say that icy roads may have caused a six-car accident involving an ambulance on Sunrise Highway today. No one was killed, but some people did suffer severe injuries, Suffolk police say.
