WOODBURY - Alex Rodriguez is banned from the major leagues for the entire 2014 season, but he still has options.

The president and general manager of the Long Island Ducks says the team would be open to letting Rodriguez play for the Atlantic League team.

The Ducks will be chasing their third consecutive championship.

An arbitrator yesterday reduced Rodriguez's 211-game ban down to 162 games for his alleged association with Biogenesis, the firm that supplied banned substances to several major leaguers. The decision means A-Rod will miss the entire 2014 season, plus the postseason if the Yankees get there. He’ll also miss out on about $25 million.

Rodriguez issued a statement after the ruling saying he would take the fight to federal court and that he is confident when a federal judge reviews everything, "the judge will find that the panel blatantly disregarded the law and facts, and will overturn the suspension."
