ROCKVILLE CENTRE - Long Island Catholics are excited by the selection of a new pope.

Argentine Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio, who will be known as Pope Francis, was elected today.

Dan Cacchioli, of Malverne, says he's pleased the cardinals chose the 76-year-old pope because he has many years of experience.

Jenny Cepero, of Rockville Centre, says she's proud to have a pope from a Latin country.
