Long Beach to enforce plastic bag fees starting Saturday

LONG BEACH - Starting Saturday, there will be no more free plastic bags in Long Beach. 

On Earth Day, residents will start paying a 5-cent fee on non-reusable bags. 

The Long Beach City Council unanimously approved the move in October. 

Suffolk County will implement a similar plastic bag fee next year.
