LONG BEACH - Although Joaquin is tracking well east of Long Island, coastal flooding is still a big concern across Long Island. 

News 12 meteorologists say high winds and drenching rains are expected with today's storm. 

News 12 Long Island's Erin Colton says Long Beach is working to prevent flooding, including any impact from Hurricane Joaquin. 

Crews have been building a sand berm to protect the beach from Pacific Boulevard near Lido, west to New York Avenue in the state streets. 

Long Beach has officials say the difference between prepping for this storm and Sandy is the city has a new boardwalk and new dunes.
