LONG BEACH - Long Beach city officials say they have lowered speed limits on some residential and side streets to 25 mph.

The speed limit had previously been 30 mph.

The move comes after the city commissioned a study to reduce preventable accidents.

The city is also working with Nassau County to retime the lights along Park Avenue in the hope of moving traffic off the side streets and onto the main road.
