LIRR to restore service on 6 lines Monday

WOODBURY - The Long Island Rail road says it's expecting "near normal" service Monday morning on six of its lines, after instituting a system-wide weekend shutdown ahead of Hurricane Irene.

The six restored lines include Ronkonkoma, Babylon, Huntington, Port Washington, Hempstead and West Hempstead branches.

Service will remain suspended on the Oyster Bay, Port Jeff, Long Beach, and Far Rockaway lines.The MTA says it will begin restoring service to the New York City subway system at 6 a.m. on Monday. Customers should expect delays and long lines.
