LIRR to restore most lines for Wed. AM rush

WOODBURY - The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) says that it's restoring full weekday service on most lines for the Wednesday morning commute.

Officials say the Long Beach and Port Jefferson lines will be up and running again. The LIRR will also continue to operate full weekday service on the Far Rockaway, Babylon, Port Washington, Hempstead, Ronkonkoma, West Hempstead, and Oyster Bay lines.

Service between Speonk and Montauk, and Ronkonkoma and Greenport, will remain shut down, but the LIRR says it hopes to have those lines restored by Thursday.

Commuters are being reminded that there are still power outages at some stations and ticket machines may not be working, but they will not be charged a higher fare for buying tickets on the train.
