More residents are taking the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) following a three-year drop in ridership.The number of LIRR riders jumped in May for the ninth consecutive month, according to Newsday. Ridership in May rose 4 percent.Part of the reason for the increase is the restoration of half-hourly midday service on the Port Washington line.
