Long Islanders who are riding the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) this Christmas Day will shell out a little less cash. The railroad is on a holiday train schedule today with off-peak fares. Special family fares are also being offered all day: up to four kids between the ages of 5 and 11 can ride for just 75 cents each, and kids under age 5 can ride free.
