WOODBURY - The Long Island Rail Road says it is operating near-normal rush-hour service for Wednesday's morning commute following this weekend's blizzard.

The restored service does not include LIRR service east of Ronkonkoma on the main line and east of Speonk on the Montauk branch. Officials say bus service will be provided for those areas.

MTA officials say hundreds of employees are continuing to work around the clock to clear snow and ice from tracks. Customers are still advised to build extra travel time for their trip.

For Tuesday's evening rush, the LIRR provided eastbound service from Penn Station and Jamaica on most of its branches. It then operated on a holiday schedule for the rest of the night; however, as of 10 p.m. service was still suspended on the Far Rockaway branch and West Hempstead branch.
