DEER PARK - The LIRR has a message for Long Islanders: Before heading out, go online. The transit agency says there will be schedule changes that can be seen on its website depending on tonight's expected snowfall, but officials at the MTA and LIRR are vowing to keep service flowing as smoothly as possible when the snow starts to fall. LIRR President Helena Williams says early preparations have already begun, including deployment of de-icer trains and adding scraper shoes to various pieces of equipment. "Our goal of course is to run as much equipment as we can, because the trains themselves will help clean the rail," Williams says.
