WEST HEMPSTEAD - The Long Island Rail Road expanded its "quiet car" program Monday to include the West Hempstead branch.Passengers sitting in designated quiet cars are asked to keep their voices low and refrain from cell phone use. If someone's being noisy, conductors hand the non-compliant passenger an official MTA "Shh!" card that explains the quiet car policy in detail.Quiet cars are already popular on the Far Rockaway, Hempstead and Long Beach branches.
