WEST ISLIP - LIPA says they have removed utility poles that were installed without permission in West Islip. Residents complained about the poles when they went up on Pease Lane in August. The Town of Islip says LIPA never received permits to install the poles. The town immediately issued a stop work order. According to Newsday, 10 poles have been taken down and LIPA says it has found an alternate route.
