LIPA: Enough energy to keep LI cool

WOODBURY - The Long Island Power Authority says it expects to have enough energy to keep the air conditioners on today.

However, some Long Islanders are already struggling in the heat this morning because they don't have power.

A little more than 500 customers are without power this morning. Overnight the number stood at a little more than 2,000.

LIPA says it has extra crews available to handle heat-related problems.

The utility wants to remind residents to help conserve by setting timers for air conditioner units.
