Lindenhurst lacrosse players suspended for drinking

LINDENHURST - Ten members of the Lindenhurst boys' varsity lacrosse team recently got in trouble for drinking alcohol while away on a tournament after they bragged about it on Twitter and Facebook. While the boys were suspended from school and practice for a few days, most parents and students say the punishment was just a slap on the wrist. In a statement, school officials said, "Ten players on the Lindenhurst High School's boys varsity lacrosse team recently received a three-day suspension from school, four-day suspension from practice and were not allowed to participate in one game after violating the district's code of conduct."The school says it does not have a zero-tolerance policy, but News 12 Long Island spoke to students and parents who dispute that. Some students and parents say the 10 teammates broke the law and should have been kicked off the team.
