NORTH BABYLON - A Suffolk woman is hoping to make streets safer after losing her husband in a DWI accident.

Linda Gambardella is giving out bracelets in memory of her husband, Dan. He and his friend, Larry Scuteri, were killed in 2011 when a drunken driver hit their car on the Wantagh State Parkway.

Police say the drunken driver, Oscar Ramirez, admitted to drinking nine beers that night.

Gambardella says spreading awareness about driving while intoxicated helps her through all the pain. Through the bracelets, she says she hopes to stop people from driving under the influence.

"I decided not to sell [the bracelets], but to ask for the promise to drive sober for Dan in exchange for the band," Gambardella says.
