Lights out again for some after stormy weather takes out trees

WOODBURY - ? Thousands of Long Islanders who just go their power back after Irene are back in the dark again. Yesterday?s rain and winds took out power to as many as 11,000 Long Island homes and businesses. Outages still remain this morning in Wantagh, Old Bethpage and Bridgehampton. LIPA blames a blown transformer and downed power lines for yesterday morning's partial outage. The utility says a number of trees weakened by Irene snapped in yesterday?s stormy weather. The power problems led to an early dismissal on the first day of school for students at Merrick Middle School. The school is back open for classes today.

If residents are experiencing an outage, they are being asked to call 1-800-490-0075
