PATCHOGUE - While many Long Islanders are enjoying big holiday meals and presents tonight, a church in Patchogue is trying to help those less fortunate.

The Lighthouse Mission was handing out bags of necessities and food for those in need this Christmas.

Lines were long as many have forgone the traditional Christmas presents just to put food on the table.

"It kind of puts things in prospective, especially during Christmas, where there are so many people in need on Long Island that they're willing to stand here in the cold just to get a few bags of food," said Pastor James Ryan, of the Lighthouse Mission.
