EAST MEADOW - Long Islanders prepared for the seventh snowstorm this winter by heading out to stores to buy shovels and storm essentials early today.

News 12 Long Island?s Erin Colton spoke to residents who say they are sick of the snow that dumped over a foot in some areas in December.

A winter storm warning is in effect for Nassau and Suffolk counties until Thursday at 6 a.m.

News 12 Long Island?s Meteorologist Rich Hoffman says from now until 1 p.m. light to moderate snow is expected with 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulating.

The heaviest of snow is expected to fall from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Snow totals could be anywhere from 6 to 10 inches with some higher amounts possible. News 12 LI Weather Center
