GLEN COVE - With the temperatures safely back in the 80s, Long Islanders are flocking to the celebrated Feast of St. Rocco in Glen Cove. For the past 60 years, lovers of Italian food have been making their way to the feast to sample first-rate homemade fare, such as the signature dish of sausage and peppers. The annual event, known as the Best Feast of the East, would not have been possible without the women who run the massive kitchen operations. This year, Josephine Capobianco and her assistants prepared more than 5,000 meatballs and plenty of tomato sauce. Except for the food, the feast also features rides for kids and musical performances. The feast runs from 6 p.m. - 11 p.m. tonight, but the hours will be extended on the weekend before the event wraps up Sunday.
