MILLER PLACE - A Long Island woman convicted of fatally striking a bicyclist while high on drugs was sentenced to one and a half to four and a half years in prison. Nicole Shellard, 34, admitted being under the influence of oxycodone and Ambien when she hit and killed 45-year-old Kathy Underdown in Miller Place back in 2010. The judge noted that Shellard had no previous criminal history and said she deserves a second chance at life once her term comes to an end. A member of Underdown's family says he plans on joining Mothers Against Drunk Driving to pressure judges to hand down tougher sentences.Family decries light sentence for driver in fatal DUI crashLI mom faces judge for driving high, killing bicyclist
