PATCHOGUE - Residents in dozens of Long Island villages are heading to the polls today.

One race getting a lot of attention is the mayoral race in Patchogue.

The big issue is a development plan at the northwest corner of Ocean Avenue and Main Street.

Mayor Paul Pontieri wants to build nearly 300 apartments and some retail and office space.

The mayor's opponent is Elizabeth McQuire. News 12 Long Island will have all the results from that race and all of today's other mayoral and village elections tonight on News12.com.
