WOODBURY - Tropical Storm Isaac could pound Louisiana as a Category 2 hurricane on the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina as it is expected to make landfall in the next day or so.
Volunteers from across Long Island are gearing up to head to the Gulf Coast region to assist if the storm causes any damage.
The Red Cross on Long Island is sending people and supplies to the region. While electrical linemen from the island are currently in Florida working to restore power to those who lost it as Isaac lashed the state.
The North Shore Animal League is also sending volunteers and supplies to help animals displaced by the storm.
