MINEOLA - Some Long Island volunteers are heading south to help those affected by Isaac.
Red Cross volunteers started their 22-hour drive to Louisiana this morning. The volunteers will spend two weeks in Port Allen, outside New Orleans, to deal with whatever destruction Isaac leaves behind.
Meanwhile, the North Shore Animal League is also heading to the Gulf Coast.
The organization is sending an Emergency Response Team to help animals displaced by the storm.
Crews will provide food, water and shelter for the animals.
